Christopher Columbus Fryar was born in August, 1850, in Laurel, Mississippi.
His parents were supposedly John T. Fryar and Mary Matthews Fryar. John was killed in 1864 in the Civil War.

Artie says that Chris Fryar was married and had two children. They moved from Mississippi to Texas. He caught his wife with another man and killed the man.
He then went on the run as the man's families were after him. His wife would not go with him. Artie did not know what happened to his first family.
After leaving Texas, Chris spent time with the "gangs" formed after the Civil War. He spent time in Mexico also.
He returned to the US and went to Arkansas. He worked in a sawmill owned by Dick Rothwell. He married Dick's daughter, who was a lot younger than he was.
She was born Jan. 7, 1875. In the 1900 census, they had been married 10 yrs. and had had 6 children with only 3 living at that time.
All of the above information about Christopher Fryar came from Elsie, his daughter. passed on down to Artie
John "Dick" Rothwell had two wives; Mary A. May was his second one. They married, Jan. 27, 1881.
